Multiple Teams · Viper Track Represents AZ at Covina Invitational

The Viper Track & Field Program represented the state of Arizona extremely well this past Saturday at the Covina Invitational in Covina, California. The Varsity Boys finished 2nd at the 27 team event, while the Varsity Girls finished 3rd, and the Frosh/Soph Boys finished 3rd as well.

Individually many athletes took home medals and many more scored their personal bests on the year. Xavier James headlined the individual accomplishments by being selected the “Athlete of the Meet” for the Varsity Boys competition. Xavier helped his 4X100 team finish 3rd, he finished 2nd in the 100 meters, won the 200 meter race, and helped his team win the last event of the day, the 4X400 meter relay.

  • Samantha Deane, Alexandra Cockett, Vanessa Reed, & Amber Lyons won the 4X400 meter relay
  • Devon Draper in the 300 meter hurdles
  • Celine White in the High Jump
  • Preston Wooten, Devon Draper, Ruben Lebron, & Xavier James in the 4X400 meter relay
  • Parker Adkisson, Adam Bechri, Malachi Farmer, & Ryan Fimbres in the Freshmen 4X400 meter relay

The Vipers have another busy week as they will host the Viper 5 Invitational this Tuesday and travel to ASU to participate in the prestigious Sun Angel Invitational on Thursday.
